Fading
As we hold hands and watch, our backs to the sun,
As our forms lengthen and features fade,
And slowly around us the shadows gather,
Light dulls, the air cools;
We lose our forms and eventually all discernment of self.
Yet as we fade inevitably to the darkness, I'm grateful
That the first I could meld with was you.
